The President of Kazakhstan spoke at the Agriculture Forum, highlighting key priorities for the sector’s development

As part of the professional holiday for agricultural workers, the second nationwide Forum was held, where the Head of State emphasized the strategic importance of the agricultural sector and expressed gratitude to all rural workers.

The President noted that agriculture is one of the key sectors of the economy, ensuring food security and sustainable regional development. According to him, large-scale reforms are being implemented in the industry: in recent years, production has shown stable growth, investment has significantly increased (up to 790 billion tenge over 10 months), and the technical infrastructure has been modernized.

Key highlights of the speech:

Livestock development as a strategic direction
The Head of State stressed the need to expand breeding programs, improve pasture efficiency, strengthen veterinary infrastructure, and create conditions for stable herd growth.

Land policy and agricultural land turnover
Since 2022, the state has reclaimed more than 14 million hectares of unused land. The President instructed to accelerate the integration of these lands into economic use and to improve the cadastral valuation system.

Improving water efficiency
Up to one million hectares of agricultural land are planned to be converted to water-saving technologies. The necessity of synchronizing water management and agricultural development plans was emphasized.

Agro-industrial financing
Preferential lending to the sector exceeded 1 trillion tenge for the first time. The state is strengthening leasing programs and localizing agricultural machinery, including strategic projects with international manufacturers.

Digitalization of the agricultural sector
The President outlined the goal of moving from individual smart solutions to a comprehensive digital ecosystem—from crop accounting to the development of “smart” farms and the use of AI.

Deep processing
The target is to increase the share of processed products to 70%. To achieve this, a pool of more than 200 investment projects with a total value of about 4 trillion tenge is being formed.

Export and promotion of the Qazaq Organicfood brand
Kazakhstan is expanding the geographic reach of its grain and meat exports. The President sees particular potential in developing exports of lamb and environmentally friendly products.

Human capital and the role of regions
The issue of labor shortages in the agro-industrial complex was also raised. The Head of State highlighted the importance of attracting skilled personnel, developing rural infrastructure, and encouraging active business participation in regional life.
