This growth marks the highest level ever recorded and represents a significant leap in the development of the sector.

According to finprom.kz, from January to December 2025, capital investments in the food industry sector amounted to 389.4 billion tenge, compared to 180.8 billion tenge in 2024. The physical volume index of investments reached 208.1%, significantly exceeding growth rates of previous years.

The increase in investment is viewed in the context of the country’s national economic strategy. As noted by the Minister of National Economy, Serik Zhumangarin, structural imbalances in production and a high dependence on imports for certain food categories contribute to price increases. Expanding the production capacity of the food industry helps reduce import dependence and maintain stable prices in the domestic market.

The government’s import substitution policy includes launching new projects for the processing of meat, dairy, and vegetable products, strengthening food security and supporting the domestic market.

The social significance of these investments is also high: food accounts for about 57% of household consumer budgets, and over the long term, food prices rise faster than many other categories. Investments in the food sector thus become a key factor in both the economic and social stability of the country.

Source: inbusiness.kz
</turbo:content>

The figures were announced during a meeting of the economic growth headquarters chaired by Minister of National Economy Serik Zhumangarin.

According to the data presented, the food and beverage production sector continues to maintain strong momentum. The physical volume index (PVI) in the food segment reached 111.9%, significantly exceeding the planned target. Beverage production also showed growth, reaching 175.4 billion tenge with a PVI of 110.2%.

As noted by Vice Minister of Agriculture Azat Sultanov, the food industry remains one of the most steadily developing segments within the manufacturing sector.

The upward trend is also confirmed by annual results. By the end of 2025, food production totaled 3.9 trillion tenge, marking an 8.1% increase compared to 2024. In 2026, the industry aims to expand further, with projections reaching 4.7 trillion tenge.

Key growth drivers include diversification of crop areas, increased utilization of existing production capacities, domestic market protection measures, and the implementation of new investment projects.

Amid ongoing global geopolitical instability, Kazakhstan continues to strengthen its food security and increase the share of domestically produced goods.

At the same time, growth is accompanied by challenges. Earlier, Kursiv reported a sharp rise in food prices since the beginning of 2026, particularly in socially significant product categories.

Source: kursiv.kz
</turbo:content>
